Push International Performing Arts Festival presents Jerome Bel's The Show Must Go On

Start Date: January 20, 2010
End Date: January 23, 2010
Tickets

A cult figure on the international dance scene, Jérôme Bel brings us The Show Must Go On—a delightfully subversive game of anticipation and expectation that blurs the line between spectator and spectacle. The cast is a charmingly wayward group of 20 local individuals, accompanied by a D.J. with an extensive collection of pop tunes including the likes of Leonard Bernstein, David Bowie, George Michael and the Beatles. The Show Must Go On is an international work cast in Vancouver to unite a local community of varied performers, not all of whom are necessarily professional dancers or actors. Much like the work of Tim Etchells (creator of last year’s PuSh Festival hit That Night Follows Day), it is a touching performance that cleverly combines social experiment and physical comedy.

French choreographer Jérôme Bel is well known for his provocative, ironic, and anti-theatrical productions. The Show Must Go On is regarded as his signature work and has delighted and outraged audiences around Europe and North America since debuting in 2001. In 2005 it was honoured with a New York theatre Bessie Award.

Join us for the opening performance of the 2010 PuSh Festival, and the Inaugural Preview of the highly anticipated Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at SFU Woodward’s.
