A world-renowned festival of performing arts for young audiences, the Vancouver International Children's Festival has been educating, entertaining and inspiring young audiences since 1978.

Regular tickets go on sale April 1.

PLEASE NOTE: In-person ticket sales through Tickets Tonight stop at closing time the day before the performance. Online and phone sales cut off two hours prior to each performance. There is an on site box office on Granville Island for same-day sales.

In this spellbinding African fable, a child born from an egg produced by the Baobab tree holds the key to the region's survival. Storytelling, puppetry, masks and live music combine to create a mythic world where traditional instruments transform into animals and masks and puppets become genies or witches. Children will leave feeling hopeful and uplifted knowing that no one is too small to make a difference.

A proven hit with the smaller set, this little play about the big issue of loneliness uses rod-puppets, jazz music and a deep understanding of young kids to tell its story about a lonely old man's search for friendship. Using sheer determination, our hero works through self-doubt, bullying and jealousy, and makes two friends. It's an innocent story told by beautifully crafted puppets.
